I was a bit disapointed September 8, 2008 S. Lidberg (Sweden) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was a bit disappointed I must first say that Craig's book about PerformancePoint Server is a great introduction book to monitoring and analytics with PerformancePoint Server. For people like me that are looking for more on the planning side of the product I was disappointed. Only one out of 10 chapters contained information about planning the rest of the +300 pages is about various aspects of monitoring and analytics. I think that the statement from Russ Whitney Development Manager tells everything about the book. "An excellent introduction to PerformancePoint Server" For people interested in planning they should choose another book.
PPS 2007 July 30, 2008 H. Lee (Arizona USA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I like the book. The section beginning on page 215 was especially useful since there is a definite lack of information regarding Performance Point Server 2007. I liked this more than the Rational series because it was presented more clearly and easier to read. I recommend it to anyone interested in PPS 2007.
Best guide to PPS2007 July 2, 2008 D. MCDOWELL (Rising Sun, MD) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a great guide for PPS2007. Craig Utley has done a thorough job covering PPS Monitoring & Analytics and Sony Jose's section on PPS Planning is very helpful. Solid Quality Mentors distributes this book to students of PPS2007 classroom courses as post-training reference material. Enjoy! --Douglas McDowell, SQL Server MVP
Excellent overview of PerformancePoint and BI March 27, 2008 David K. Shroyer (Dixon, CA USA) 2 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is an excellent text if you are looking into moving toward the Microsoft BI platform. The book starts with a nice introduction which includes an overview of data warehousing, ETL, and cube creation. It then moves into quite a bit of detail with PerformancePoint. Craig has a very conversational style of writing which was very much appreciated. (sometimes these types of books can be very dry) Overall I would recommend this to anyone looking to purchase or implement PerformancePoint.
